Moving to the area!

Hello all
We currently live in Devon and will be moving up pretty soon to the area due to work. Just wondered if you could tell me what Baldock was like to live in? Any views on Hitchin and Letchworth too?
We are a married couple in our 20s/30s - we don't have the need for a huge amount of amenities - prefer the quiet life to anything that attracts lots of people to be honest!
